Advertising Week's Mexico City Rebuilding Recap

On Thursday, 16 November 2017, members of the Advertising Week team traveled to the town of Milanclo, Mexico to help clean up and rebuild areas of Ameyalli Comunidad Educativa, a school that was destroyed by the devastating earthquakes in Central Mexico this past September.

The Advertising Week team, including our partners and members of the advisory council, helped reconstruct the school’s roof, clean rubble and dirt leftover from the earthquakes, paint terra cotta walls and tires that help stop flooding and restored tarps that provide the school with coverage.

In addition to our restoration efforts, we also spent part of the day with parents and students of the community, who came to the site with home cooked food and viewed the rebuilding efforts taking place.

Due to the destructive and significant damage caused by the earthquakes that occurred in Mexico City, the inaugural debut of Advertising Week Latin America was moved from the week of 13 November 2017 to 12 – 15 February 2018.

Although our rebuilding efforts might seem small compared to the turmoil that was caused in Mexico, we remain dedicated and committed to helping rebuild Mexico, uniting the advertising industry, and inspiring the people of Mexico.
