Chris Merrill currently serves as the Chief Marketing Officer for Synchrony’s Direct to Consumer division, inclusive of the Consumer Bank and Synchrony branded General Purpose Credit Cards. Chris was the CMO for the Consumer Bank division over the past 2-years, which has over $50B in deposits; his role recently expanded to include all Direct to Consumer. As the Marketing Leader of the Bank, Chris oversaw acquisition & lifecycle strategies, product development, consumer experience & the Bank’s agile development teams. Chris and the team continue to expand the Bank’s digital capabilities both on how they reach prospects and customers as well as the digital customer experience.
Prior to joining as the CMO of the Consumer Bank Chris served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank for 3-years and during the aggregate 5-years at the Bank he has been critical in helping grow the Bank’s deposit balances to over $50B. Before joining the Consumer Bank, Chris was the Pricing Leader at Synchrony, working with BD to renew & sign new Credit Card deals. Before taking the Pricing Leader role Chris served as the FP&A Leader for Synchrony’s Retail Card division. Prior to joining Synchrony, Chris worked at GE Capital for 7-years.
