#AWNewYork Calendar Reveals New Speakers, Venues, Award Show

For thirteen years, Advertising Week has been the watering hole for creative thinkers, bringing industry professionals together for one week each year to reflect on years past, and to look toward where we’re headed.

Advertising Week has just released its 2016 calendar, unveiling the lineup for seminars, workshops, speaker sessions, concert series and networking opportunities. With audience and speaker backgrounds ranging anywhere from CEO’s to entertainers, creative directors to entrepreneurs, the calendar boasts offerings to please the every-professional.

Along with the return of high-demand seminars and popular workshops, 2016 also proffers brand new additions, including new venues, new guest speakers and an entirely new award show.

As one of the biggest draws of the week every year, the lineup of seminar hosts and speakers boast some of the biggest names, and lengthiest resumes, in the business. This year, Advertising Week will welcome a series of first-time speakers with backgrounds from every corner of the industry.

Katie Couric, journalism giant and global anchor for Yahoo News will host a panel with key political influencers to explore the controversies of the 2016 election, and how media coverage influences the digital consumer.

Drew Barrymore, award-winning actress turned straight-shooting business woman and founder of Flower Beauty cosmetics will also speak at Advertising Week for the first time, as she leads a seminar discussing the ways to build, and maintain, brand loyalty in a media-savvy day and age.

Other first-time speakers include Snapchat’s Imran Khan, TV personality Dr. Oz, director and producer Paul Haggis, Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, Badger & Winter’s Madonna Badger, and Shark Tank’s Daymond John, among many others.

Notable returning speakers include Sheryl Sandberg, Bob Greenberg and David Droga, as well as Arianna Huffington who will discuss our cultural dismissal of sleep and health-conscious decision-making on the heels of her new book, “The Sleep Revolution.”

In keeping with current trends, Advertising Week has also introduced a variety of new tracks that speak to ideas populating the media industry, including brand innovation, social impact, trust and transparency, and the power of data science.

The Week will debut the historic Town Hall as a new venue, which will host a series of “super sessions” led by industry leaders each day at noon.

Also for the first time, the Oculus, the highly anticipated structure at the World Trade Center which opened to the public earlier this year, will debut as home to the opening ceremonies kicking off the week on Monday.

Finally, The D&AD Impact Awards, a never-before-seen award show, will have its inaugural event at Advertising Week 2016. The event is a jointed effort by D&AD and Advertising Week to celebrate the power of creativity used to stimulate social change. During the awards, held Tuesday evening, organizations that use their platforms to positively impact the world will receive recognition.
